Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine does not uphold the Initiative concerning the Increase of the Retirement Age.
Giving answers to the journalists´ questions on Wednesday, V. Lytvyn declared: "The implementation of the retirement age is possible only if one steps across me. Nobody will step across me."
The Head of the Parliament explained that there is high morbidity level of cardiovascular and oncological diseases in Ukraine and it is totally absurd to increase the retirement age if the average life rate that for men comprises 62 years. "If the retirement age is increased to 65 years, what shall we do next, hire people from the cemeteries?", - V. Lytvyn proclaimed.
He also reminded that there are several international organizations that insist on the retirement age increase in Ukraine. Giving comments regarding the fact, V. Lytvyn briefed that he does not considered it to be a coincidence that the Government "ahs not yet directed the budget for the next year to the Parliament, elaborating numerous pretences." "The main reason is in the fact that the International Monetary Fund insists on the real and objective budget taking into the consideration the necessity of all the conditions implementation that was signed in the relevant Memorandum by the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine and Deputy Minister on Finances. Let them now declare us, what have they signed?" The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada declared.
